What is SiteScroll?
SiteScroll® is a software solution designed for individual website information management. It includes an innovative directory display designed to make website navigation easier and as complete as possible.
Why use a directory?
There are several advantages to using a directory type of organization, especially if the person searching for information is unfamiliar with the topic. If you can find where in the structure you have ended up, you can browse both back and forward through the levels. The categories in which a term appears gives one contextual information. This type of information is not formatted or displayed in a cascade algorithm by any current search engine, such as Google, Yahoo, etc.
What does SiteScroll look like?
SiteScroll consists of multiple columns within one window. The columns can display a range of data. SiteScroll provides additional scroll features and shortcut buttons to facilitate navigation. A search function for the SiteScroll database may be included.
How does SiteScroll work?
By selecting a topic in the first column, data is retrieved and presented in the second column. This can be repeated several times until the desired information is found. This information can now be retrieved.
Does the user go directly to the required URL or via a results page?
Selection of the desired information opens either the corresponding URL or alternatively a result window with additional information.
Is SiteScroll compatible with all browsers and operating systems?
Yes. As SiteScroll is offered in DHTML and browser based most operating systems and recent browsers will be compatible.
Is SiteScroll Section 508/W3C compliant? Partially. SiteScroll is a complex utility that improves accessibility to data, however it requires the use of stylesheets (CSS), standard browser javascript and a dynanmic database engine to achieve this level
of access to thousands of text links. SiteScroll can therefore not meet some of the Priority 1 and 2 checklist items that relate to Dynamic content, 'turned off' CSS and javascript. SiteScroll does however provide quick and easy access to a high-contrast version of the application to assist users with impaired visibility.
Does SiteScroll require additional plug-ins? No.

(easier access to a wider range of information on your web site, highly targeted advertisement or product and services display in the columns or result page, etc)
How does SiteScroll improve my website?
Many websites use 'Site Maps', which provides a limited summary of the available information on the website. SiteScroll provides a complete summary of the website and shows the relationship between the information.
Does SiteScroll replace my Site Map?
Yes. SiteScroll has overcome the limitations of the conventional Site Map and offers dramatically more information about a website than a Site Map.
How does SiteScroll accommodate for e-commerce?
Add targeted advertisement to any column or result page. On-line catalogues can be readily summarized on as little as one webpage.
Can SiteScroll be integrated without changing my corporate branding, website look and feel?
Yes.
What does OmniScroll do for me?
We custom design the SiteScroll window to your specifications. We built a custom database. We analyze and summarize your website into a custom directory. We liaise with your web designers and host to coordinate your SiteScroll installation. We offer post-launch support and database updates.
Why do I need a custom database, or can I use an existing database?
We create a new database and spreadsheet from scratch, but can populate the database from common spreadsheet file formats (such as MS Excel, OpenOffice, Filemaker Pro,
MS Access, WordPerfect etc) using a CSV file. Once you have uploaded a database the SiteScroll data can be edited as much as you want, and your changes won't show up to users until you upload the new SiteScroll data. Access is limited by password protection. Maintain your SiteScroll data, but select what viewers can see. Insert tables, images, video, sound, etc.
SiteScroll is designed to manage any amount of information. Without a backend limitation SiteScroll can manage an infinite amount of information.
Does SiteScroll provide database security enhancements?
You control who can see data (all or part). Your data is protected from data mining.
What software is used to prepare a SiteScroll database?
Off-the-shelf, commercially available or open source software can be used. Examples include MS Excel, OpenOffice, Filemaker Pro,
MS Access, WordPerfect etc
Who installs SiteScroll/makes it part of my website?
OmniScroll will. If necessary we will liaise with the party responsible for maintaining your website.
Do I have to create the SiteScroll directory?
No, one of the in-house strengths of OmniScroll is information management and the ability to logically organize data so that it makes sense to the user.
Can I edit the SiteScroll database?
With SiteScroll online you can edit the displayed data from any location. You can upload your database from anywhere. You may activate or deactivate single entry or groups of data, or easily roll back to a previous version of the SiteScroll data
Can I let others edit the database?
Yes, you control who has password access to the database, and what level of access.
Is SiteScroll available in a commercial software version?
No.
Has SiteScroll been designed with accessibility in mind?
Yes, one of the main reasons behind the development of SiteScroll is the wish for improved accessibility.
Can my web design company be licensed to offer SiteScroll with our web sites? License agreements are available to allow you to legally implement SiteScroll. The agreement includes training and support.
