When you first visit the eBay Scroll demonstration web page you can start using it immediately. At any time you may choose to change the three personal control settings, including ‘Speed’, ‘Mouse action’, and ‘Enhance text size/colors’. Below is a brief explanation about each personal control feature.

Speed

The default setting for download/rendering/movement speed is fast. If you have fast internet access, or a fast computer, and feel that the selected information appears too quickly in the columns you can slow this down by selecting a lower speed.

Mouse action

The second option is the mouse action behaviour. The default setting is the conventional ‘point & click’ setting. As this term suggests, you have to point at and click the text you would like to select. In the point & click setting the whole text box is sensitive to select a topic.

An alternative to point & click is 'mouse-over'. Mouse-over is a term used to describe the action of hovering your pointer over text and as a result automatically selecting the text.

Please note that in mouse-over, only the centre of the text (box) is sensitive. You have to point more or less at the centre of the box, and not necessarily at the centre of the word, to select the topic.

Enhance text size/colors

The third option allows you to increase the font size, and screen contrast. This feature is designed to make it easier to view our web site. eBay Scroll endeavors to comply with section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act of 1973 accessibility guidelines.

To change a personal control preference you need to click the tab on the eBay Scroll home page named ‘Your Controls’. Once you click this tab you are provided with the three personal controls. You can now select your preferences for the various controls. You can go back to the default or any other setting by the click of a button.

Please note that if you choose to change a default preference the preference will be saved on your hard drive in the form of a “cookie”. If you have set your browser preferences to not accept “cookies” your selected preferences will not be saved and will only work during that session.
